  1. Jo--again I'm wondering if it would be more helpful to look at some of the emotions going along with the eating (like over the weekend) rather than just your food choices. (Says the friend who is not blogging well despite my best intentions...)

    1. I know, I've thought of that. But, isn't it possible that one eats just for the enjoyment of eating? I often think I am just someone you likes food to the point that you could compare me to an addict. Especially sweets. I don't think I eat from stress...I just like to eat!

    2. Yes, but...
We absolutely, positively need to eat for enjoyment. We DO eat for enjoyment. My challenge to you (and me) is how much of our eating is really, truly enjoyable? Yes...the first bite of the cookie is awesome. Something you have been craving and when you finally eat it is amazing. But do you ever get to the point where you find yourself eating and don't even realize what you are putting in your mouth?

I think both of us struggle with the balance. The mindfulness is useful, but understanding nutrition is important too. Just mindfulness won't cut it for me. But non-stop dieting or calorie counting or journaling makes me crazy.

The addict thing...don't let it become an excuse. It may be similar, but think of the damage addicts do to their bodies.
